Ms. Brasher began her employment with the City of Southside in May of 2006, within the Administrative Office. In 2011, she became a certified Municipal Court Magistrate and assisted the court on an as-needed basis.
In 2012, Ms. Brasher completed instructor training for the Alabama Driver Education Program and was certified by the Alabama Safety Institute; she was instrumental in establishing the city’s first Defensive Driving School and taught classes until 2017. In 2018, Ms. Brasher became the full-time magistrate for the municipal court.
On November 2nd, 2020, Ms. Brasher was appointed Clerk of the Court and is the Chief Administrative Officer of the court, its records, finances, and employees. The position of Court Clerk/Magistrate is one of public trust and is a critical part of our judicial process. As clerk, Ms. Brasher assists the Municipal Judge, Prosecutor, attorneys, law enforcement and other agencies who come in contact with the court, with information and insures orders and policies of the Court are executed. In addition to accepting payment of fines, the Court Clerk/Chief Magistrate, accepts guilty pleas for specified minor offenses, prepares dockets, issues notices, warrants and subpoenas, sets bail in accordance with the Discretionary Bail Schedule and approves property, cash, and surety bonds upon the Municipal Judge’s approval.
