November 2019 Review

Southside Senior Citizens

Happy Turkey Day to everyone.  We at the Southside Senior Citizens have began to enjoy all the festivities of the holidays.  Our Thanksgiving luncheon was a great success with everyone enjoying the fellowship of the holiday on Nov. 13 at 210 at the Tracks, given by the Council on Aging and the City of Gadsden.

Mayor Sherman Guyton gave a wonderful address to all who participated in the wonderful luncheon.

Our birthdays for November are Marcelle Bearden and Mayor Wally Burns.  We enjoyed a very informative talk given to us by the Honorable Circuit Judge Bill Weathington Jr., son of member Rose Weathington.

We also enjoyed the informative talk by Lt. Jay Freeman and Officer Kip Williams of the Southside Police Department and Jake Roy of Southside High, who were joined by Etowah County Deputy District Attorney Brynn Crain.

Our visitors this month were Mayor Wally Burns, Sarah Boggs, Donna Thornton of The Gadsden Times and Robert Resser.  Our anniversaries this month are Amy and Lee Sanner, and Ramona and Paul Wooten.

Those elected to the nominating committee are Patsy Burnett, Pat Baumann, Peggy Samples, Ann Woodard and Lamar Pruitt.  They will have a report at the December meeting.

We prayed for our country, our sick, our troops and our community.
